Why should I care about telling a good story? I just want to get grant funding for my organization / more hits on my website / more subscribers to my newsletter.
A well-told story isn’t just for reading with a cup of cocoa by the fireplace on a blustery day. Stories can be told in a variety of ways, for a variety of reasons. Grant funders will be more likely to support your project if your narrative is captivating and unique, while meeting all the requirements in their Request for Proposals. Blogs draw more return readers if they present information with examples and anecdotes, rather than dry facts. Whatever your organization’s writing needs may be, consider the story involved. My goal as a writer is to help people find ways to tell their stories in the right style and format.
Where are you located?
My geographical location is in the Fort Worth area, but my work location is virtually anywhere. The Internet allows me to work with people across the globe, and it’s not unusual for me to be working on projects with organizations or editors in North Carolina, the Southwest U.S., and a remote part of China all at the same time. Phone calls, Skype, email, carrier pigeon — we can use whatever type of communication works best for you.
How much do you charge?
That’s a good question to ask, but not always a simple one to answer. My rates fall in line with the standard rates for someone of my experience level in the professional writing and editing business. The rate I charge per project will depend on the type of writing to be done, the amount of research involved, and the expected time of turnaround. The easiest way to find out what that rate would be for your project is to email me with your details and ask for a quote.
Can I email you an attachment with my project details?
You can, but it’s better to send an introductory email first and let me know that you have an attachment for me to look at. Unexplained attachments might not make it through my spam filter.
If you have other questions, please send me an email at rebeccadiann (at) pobox (dot) com.
